Preteen Basic Drawing Class

ESSENTIAL- Drawing Pencil set-  make sure you get the medium set so you have the widest variety of pencil leads. 

ESSENTIAL-  You'll need at least two of these kneaded erasers.  One for graphite drawing and the other for charcoal drawing.  These erasers can molded to any shape and erase by rubbing back and forth or pressing and lifting.  

ESSENTIAL-  Just about any white eraser will work, I prefer these inexpensive erasers. 

OPTIONAL-  A great eraser for small areas.  

SECONDARY-  Any type of drafting brush to brush the eraser crumbs off your paper without smearing it.  I really like this hake brush.

ESSENTIAL-  Small sketchbooks are perfect for our warm-ups exercises.  Any inexpensive brand will do for this.

ESSENTIAL-  A book of drawing paper (not sketch) is great for your drawing projects. 

ESSENTIAL-  A T-square is a great tool for getting your measurement correct and making parallel lines.  

ESSENTIAL- A great set of three softnesses of black charcoal plus a white charcoal which you will love!

ESSENTIAL- These will be used to begin the Charcoal drawing section. Vine charcoal sticks are a great method to learn the wipe out method which is fun and fast!

SECONDARY- We will be using toned paper for some of our charcoal projects as well as pencil drawings.  You can also choose a grey toned paper if you prefer. (same brand)

ESSENTIAL- A board to hold your paper stiff as you draw and to tilt so you can work on an angle.
